Claire House Annual Dinner Rep – Hamish Baxter

Hello, my name is Hamish, I am an intercalating 5th year and I am your Annual Dinner Chairperson 2018/19. Annual dinner is an opportunity for the members of the medical school to enjoy a night of good food, drink and entertainment. For the first time ever we will be hosted at the Adelphi Hotel and will feature a competitive darts theme to make this year completely different to previous years. After a speech from the guest speaker the Charity Bar Crawl will finish their route and join us at the Adelphi for a dance. Lastly but most certainly not least a midnight hog roast will satisfy your food cravings so a late night Chesters will not be necessary; this definitely won't be a night to miss! History & Alumni sec - Josh Callon

Hello everyone. My name’s Josh and for the second year running I’m the LMSS History and Alumni Secretary. My primary role is to be the liaison between the society and the alumni (those who’ve graduated). This involves informing them of all the different things that the society is up to, involving them in our activities (balls, dinners, shows, meetings etc), acquiring donations and organising an alumni ball. You’ll be surprised just how many doctors, some now eminent professionals from around the world, are keen to get involved with the society and who are interested in current medical students in Liverpool. My other role also involves looking after the archives of the society (144 years’ worth!) and to protect our long history which for so long has been at the heart of Liverpool medical students’ lives. Give me a shout if you want any more information about the society or our alumni.

Hi everyone, I’m Lauren and I’ll be your LMSS welfare and diversity rep 2018/19! This means that I’ll be responsible for matching up the incoming freshers and the 2nd years in a mentor mentee system to ensure that our new 1st years have someone to take them under their wing, and show them how fun Liverpool and the LMSS can be! I’ll also be here to help out students from any year group with the stresses that medical school can throw at you, from housing to exam stress and everything in between! I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs at medical school so if I can’t find the answer to help you, I’ll be able to point you in the direction of someone who can. Working towards improving diversity is something that is really important to the LMSS so I’ll be working with the other committee members to make sure that all our events can be as diverse as possible and truly reflect the student body we’re here to represent! You can reach me by email at
welfare@lmssonline.co.uk, send a message via Facebook or simply ask me any questions you might have in person at one of our LMSS events throughout the year! (Don’t worry, everything is completely confidential!) Excited to meet you all! Lauren xx
